Where Do I Shop for Decorations?
I have several places I like to shop for fall decorations (or for any season/event).
Hobby Lobby is probably my favorite store to get decorations. They have so many cute options and I love that they keep themed items together. Walmart and Amazon will also have plenty of options for home decor.
If you want to save money, the dollar store and thrift stores are great places to start! You can find many cute items that are affordable and will still give your home that cozy fall feeling.
You can even try to make some cute decor items (I am not that crafty).
When Should I Start Decorating For Fall?
Whenever your heart feels like it, the weather changes and is different all over the place.
Whenever you feel like the transition to fall has started and you want to decorate your home, do it! There is no right or wrong answer for when to start decorating.

My living room is the main area of my home. My front and back doors open directly into my living room, so that is the area that I focus on and decorate the most.
It is the focal point of my home. Whichever area is the focal point of your home is where I would focus and put the majority of your decorations.
If you want to decorate all the areas of your home, that’s fine, too. I like to keep things simple and decorate the areas that will be seen the most (even if it’s just seen by my family).
1. Throw Pillows
I am not one for throw pillows on my bed, but I adore them on my couch! Throw pillows create a sense of coziness that I love. Add a touch of fall with these cute throw pillow covers.
Throw pillow covers are an easy decor idea because throw pillows are probably something you already have.
2. Throw Blankets
A great way to make your home feel more cozy is to have plenty of throw blankets lying around.
Fall is the perfect time to add a new addition to your throw blanket collection with a fall-themed one.
3. Faux Pumpkins
Faux pumpkins in different fall colors are so easy to decorate with! They are perfect for sitting on the bookshelf, coffee table, or dining table to give the area some pops of color.
What’s even better is that they are fabric and won’t break if someone bumps them.
4. Fall Scented Candle or Simmer Pot
The best way to make your home feel like fall is to make it smell like it! I love the fall scents like apple, cinnamon, cider, and pumpkin!
I love to use a simmer pot recipe like this one because they are non-toxic and smell amazing.
If you enjoy using candles, I recommend a soy or a beeswax candle. Apple is my favorite scent of the fall season!
5. Garland
Seasonal garland is a simple yet beautiful way to decorate for fall. It’s perfect to place on a mantle, drape across a bookshelf, or even use on your front porch!
It’s an easy way to add a fall touch to your home.

One of the easiest fall touches is to add some fall florals. I love to use neutral-colored flowers like these to decorate with. Our home is very simple with a lot of farmhouse-style decorations so these flowers match perfectly.
