Alone time is important for many reasons. I believe it is very important to be able to spend time alone with yourself, and your thoughts, and enjoy hobbies or things that you enjoy.
Have you ever thought about how to be happy when alone? It can be a hard thing to accept sometimes, but it is important to learn!
One huge step during my simple life journey has been learning that alone time is very important! Having time to sort through my own thoughts without having the distraction of friends, family, or the busy world around me is something I cherish now.
I enjoy having the time to focus on my hobbies, writing, and things that I love and that make me happy.
What do you love doing during your alone time?
Time with your Thoughts
To some, this may sound like a miserable thing to encounter. Trust me when I say that I have been there so many times! There have been times in my life that I have wanted to stay so busy that my mind does not have the time to think about anything other than what all I have to do. Then, I am left wondering how in the heck I’m going to get all these things done!
But– over time, I have realized that it’s necessary for my well-being to have alone time to process my thoughts instead of ignoring them, and to have time to truly sort through them.
Thoughts can be such a tricky thing. They can leave us hung up on certain situations in our life, cause our feelings and emotions to burst wide open, and they can even drive us crazy.
Taking the time you need to process your thoughts will make dealing with them and the feelings they provoke much easier.
Journaling
I have become very fond of journaling over the last few months. It’s a great way to spend your alone time. It’s the perfect way to write out your thoughts and feelings, and it can help you sort through them on paper rather than in your head.
Below are some wonderful questions and journaling prompts you can start with to help you discover yourself. One day, you won’t be able to start or end your day any other way than with journaling.
You could also start with a guided journal. This is perfect to help you get started with journaling, if you have no idea where to start. Guided journals have prompts and motivational quotes to keep you positive and on track with your journaling experience.
Some of my other favorite guided journals are:
- Guided Journal for Achieving your Goals
- Guided Gratitude Journal
- Guided Anxiety Journal for Stress Relief and Self-Care
Time for things you love
How often do you have to put things on the back burner that you actually want to do or enjoy doing because your life is so busy?
It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life that we forget to give ourselves the time to focus on ourselves. The time we need to focus on the things we enjoy, the things that bring us peace, and the things that make us who we are.
There have been many times that I have felt like I am losing myself because I don’t have alone time to do things for myself! I lose who I am because I don’t give myself the time I deserve to focus on myself and what I love to do.
Spending time alone is so important for this reason. You must spend some time doing what you enjoy, remembering who you are, what you love, stand for, and believe in.
Time to Recharge
I don’t know about you, but being social and spending time with people can drain me. I enjoy being around people, but it takes a lot of my energy to be upbeat and social all the time. Having alone time is important for me to be able to recharge from exerting so much social energy!
Having time to recharge allows me to have a better social life when I am with my friends and family, or even when I am at work.
It gives me the energy I need to be an upbeat and fun person! My friends and family understand that alone time is important to me. I am so thankful to have such understanding people in my life.
meditation
Meditation is a beautiful way to spend time alone. It allows you time to be in the present while in a quiet environment. Meditation has wonderful mental health benefits, and it is great for your overall well-being. It can bring peace and balance to your mental, physical, and emotional health. Meditation can help you reduce stress and learn to spend more time in the present.
Meditation can also help you to relax and clear your mind. We all need more of that, don’t we?
When I began meditating, it was hard to sit in the quiet. It was hard to clear my mind and focus on the present. My mind would always wander back to things I needed to be doing or very random things. It is great to learn how to be alone with your thoughts, but it is also great to learn how to be more present and stop overthinking.
I started with guided meditation to help me understand meditation better and learn different practices.
Some useful tools for meditation are:
- Meditation floor pillow to have a more comfortable place to meditate.
- Meditation cards for different meditation exercises.
- Sage candles to create the perfect atmosphere for meditation.
- Zen music to also help with the atmosphere of where you are meditating.
Give meditation a try today!
My alone time consists of many different things. I like to meditate and journal in the mornings. Other times I like to write, read, or indulge in one of my many hobbies. No matter what I am doing, it’s something I want to be doing, and it is something that I enjoy. It allows me the time I need to focus on who I am as a person.
Don’t let yourself slip away because you fail to give yourself the alone time you so very much deserve. Learn how to be happy when alone and start enjoying it!
I hope this post has inspired you to take the alone time that you need to renew your mind and energy. Do you have something you enjoy doing in your alone time? I would love to hear about it!
Until next time,
Catherine

This is a great reminder to spend some time alone reflecting on life. Its not always easy when you have young kids but it really does make such a difference. My youngest has just started a few hours a week at preschool. I am really enjoying spending that time rediscovering my love of writing as I work on my blog.

You remind me of myself. It takes a lot of energy to be around other people so we have to balance that with time to rest and recoup. And you hit the nail on the head with journaling because that’s a great way to bring peace and harmony to our lives.

Alone time is SO important and so underrated. I’ve spent years trying to “find time” to get some alone time but I’vce since realised that I need to MAKE the time – and be strict about it. It really is so important!
