My husband and I absolutely love Blue Ridge, Georgia.
It is close enough to our home town that we can go up there for small day trips, and we do that several times a year. From food, fun, good entertainment, festivals, and beautiful views, there is so much to do in Blue Ridge, Ga!
There is plenty to do with the family, and it is the perfect town for a small day trip or even a weekend get-a-w
One of our most favorite things we love going to Blue Ridge for is:
Mercier Orchards
This place is absolutely AMAZING. We can (and do) spend hours at Mercier Orchards (especially the first time we ever went). They have everything you could ever imagine- fresh produce, jams, a bakery, a restaurant, a tasting room, knick-knacks, and everything in between. Most everything is homegrown, and they always have the fruit that is in season available for you! You can even do a U-pick for apples, blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries. (They also have a sample counter, which is our favorite).
We have so much fun looking around and seeing what exciting things we can try next! We definitely have our favorites that we get every time we go, but we always, always leave with something new to try.
They also have a beautiful pond on their land that is available for you to go fishing in. Check out their website here to see all the enjoyable activities they offer for you and the family!
When we visited this weekend, we enjoyed breakfast at the cafe, and then enjoyed some shopping afterward. They offer a breakfast buffet, it was our first time trying it, and it was to die for! We love a good meal, and the breakfast there was delicious.

Another wonderful area to visit while in Blue Ridge:
Downtown Blue Ridge

After we spent some time at Mercier, we went to the downtown area in Blue Ridge. Downtown Blue Ridge is home to their train depot. If you have never been on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, I highly recommend it. It takes you through the most beautiful scenery right next to the Toccoa River.
You can learn more about the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway here. It would be an excellent trip for the family! Although we did not take a ride on the train during our visit this weekend, we have done it before and enjoyed it very much!
There are also many unique shops and places to eat in downtown. We spent some time exploring the shops, got some fresh brewed herbal tea from Tupelo Tea, and enjoyed the atmosphere of this fun downtown area. After dodging a rainstorm, we decided to catch a late lunch.

As far as finding great places to eat, we have a slight advantage of finding the hidden gems because my husband works in this area sometimes. A few weeks ago, he stopped at this small hole in the wall place and discovered their amazing food!
Van Zandt’s
Our last stop for the day was a quaint little place to eat called Van Zandt’s. It is actually like a general store with a small area to eat. It has a small menu, but everything is fresh, hot, and delicious! It was off the beaten path and had the most beautiful view from their front porch.
This place may be small, but man, did it have the best burger I have ever had! The food was excellent, and can we talk about that view? It was so quiet and peaceful, and we will definitely be going back!
If you haven’t visited Blue Ridge, Ga I hope you plan to soon! There is so much to do and see, and there is something for everyone in the family! We love to go and get away for a few hours or a few days. If you have any questions about planning your trip or other things to do there, please feel free to reach out to me!
