I have been following Joe Bunting (J.H. Bunting) for a while now. I discovered him when I discovered The Write Practice community that he built, helping individuals become better writers. When his book, Crowdsourcing Paris, came out, I had just gotten back from Paris in 2019. I was so excited to read about his memoirs of a travel adventure. He wrote a real-life adventure story in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. A city that I love very much. I was hoping to re-live my experience through his book because I didn’t want to leave the city of love.
The Author
Joe Bunting is a bestselling writer, including his memoir, a short story, and some books about the writing process. He also runs a website called The Write Practice, where he helps teach people about his process for writing a novel. It is an award-winning community of creative writers. I have been a part of the community for a few years now, and I always enjoy the information and tips that Joe sends out to the community.

My review
My upcoming trip to Paris inspired me to read his book again. It’s been nearly four years, and I loved the book just the same. It has inspired me to check out some new places when I return to Paris. I even booked a tour through the catacombs! I enjoyed reading the book this time just as much as the first time I read it. It’s a great book with great writing.
I enjoyed reading Crowdsourcing Paris: Memoirs of a Travel Adventure. Joe Bunting is a cautious writer who takes a leap to create a great story! Joe, his wife Talia, and their son packed up everything and went to Paris for an adventure. Joe was about $600 short of being able to go on this adventure, so he reached out to his readers who, donated to 12 adventures….that they chose for him! The adventures that Joe had to accomplish while in Paris would take anyone out of their comfort zone. It was exciting to read how Joe spent his time in Paris.
Have you ever seen a movie that was set in a place you have visited before? It’s almost surreal to see the landmarks and scenery in a movie because you’ve seen it in person before. It’s exciting to see this because, for a moment, you can pretend like you are there again. That is how I felt while reading this story.
I will say that Joe Bunting had a much more adventurous trip than I did, and that’s what made this book so amazing to me! He saw the same city I did, but somehow he made his trip into something I could only imagine! The descriptions of Paris in this book are enchanting, engrossing and will make you feel like you are in a dream. The adventures that he takes and the way he explains them will make you feel like you are in a real life adventure story.

Of course, he sees and experiences all of the well known landmarks in Paris like the Arc De Triomphe, miles of illegal catacombs (what?!), and visits cafes of famous writers that spent time in them writing while in Paris. He even hunts for some of those dead authors at the Pere Lachaise Cemetery, where they are buried. The adventures Joe Bunting has in this book have inspired me to visit Paris again. I would love to explore new places and places I have already been with a new view.
This book is not only about the adventures Joe Bunting has while in Paris. It is about a man finding the strength to be adventurous in an unknown city and stepping out of his comfort zone to reach a goal and a dream. It is about a man learning to find himself again in a lonely city.
What had I been looking for that I thought I would find here? I remembered feeling like I was in a rut. I remembered being hemmed in by my small life I was living and desperate for something new. I remembered that passion and excitement I once had about being a writer had completely faded.
J. H. Bunting; Crowdsourcing Paris: Memoirs of a Travel Adventure
Crowdsourcing Paris is full of so many emotions. Fear, excitement, and happiness are just a few of them. It will also make you experience many emotions while reading it! Be ready to have this book pull you in and not want to put it down.

I recommend this book to anyone looking for a really good story full of adventure and inspiration! You will find those two things, if nothing else, in this book. Reading this book inspired me to start reading other memoirs, and now, it is one of my favorite genres of books. Memoirs are so much fun to read. They can teach you many life lessons, inspire you to find a new journey, and can be very relatable.
