Fall is my favorite time of the year, as it is for many others, too! It’s the perfect time to be outdoors, spend quality time with the people you love, and enjoy some of your favorite food and drinks!

The cool weather makes me want to do all the fun activities outoors, go on a road trip, bundle up in a blanket, and drink all my favorite warm beverages. Even with all the fun things going on around you, it can be hard to think of date ideas, but don’t worry, there are plenty of fun things to do! 

Whether it’s your first date, your tenth, or your married and having a date night, there is something on this list for you! Here are 53 of my favorite simple date night ideas!

53 Simple and Fun Date Ideas for the Fall Season

1. Go to Your Favorite Coffee Shop for A Coffee Date

Getting coffee is always a great way to spend the evening. My husband and I love to try new fall flavors! It’s also a great way to sit down, talk, and learn more about each other.

2. Visit a Bakery and Get Your Favorite Fall Treat

You don’t have to ask me twice to get a tasty treat! My downtown area has the best bakeries to get a fall treat and walk around to enjoy the nice weather. 

3. Walk Through The Park

Walking through the park and taking in the beautiful fall foliage is a great date night. Take the pups for a walk if you have any! 

4. Go to a Pumpkin Patch

Is it even fall if you don’t visit a local pumpkin patch? Go pick out the perfect pumpkin, take pictures, and get ready to carve the pumpkin!

5. Carve a Pumpkin

Pick out a fun pattern and carve the pumpkins you picked from the patch. Painting them is also very popular right now. Either of these are fun ideas for things to do with your punpkin. 

6. Roast The Seeds From The Pumpkin

There’s no need to waste all the seeds you dig out of the pumpkin to carve it. Use this recipe to make a yummy, healthy snack!

7. Have A Movie Date Night- In or Go Out to a Movie

A great date night idea for fall is to have a movie night! Go to the movies and watch something new, or stay home and pull out one of your favorite movies.

8. Spend an Evening by the Fireplace

The firepalce is so cozy! If you are looking for more romantic date ideas, this is one of my favorites. Snuggle up by the fire, play a boardgame, talk, or watch a movie. The fire gives the perfect ambiance for a romantic evening!

9. Spend an Evening in Cooking your Favorite Meal Together

Everyone has their favorite meal or cuisine. Mine is Mexican food- tacos, rice, and spicy salsa. I love when my husband and I get in the kitchen and cook together! We have so much fun talking, laughing, and helping each other. It’s a fun way to spend the evening, plus you get to eat your favorite food!

10. Find a Local Festival to Attend

I love going to festivals! They are packed with so much fun. You can enjoy live music, good food, fall activities, and more! A festival is a great idea for a fun and entertaining date idea. 

11. Go Apple Picking

Visiting an apple orchard makes it truly feel like fall. Pick your favorite apples to take home to eat or make something with them! Make sure to snag all things while you are there! Apple cider and apple pie are my favorites of the season!

12. Find a Fun Board Game to Play

Board games were something that I always looked forward to as a kid. I enjoy playing them as an adult, too! Except for Scrabble because I have NEVER won against my husband, and I’m a sore loser, lol. Find a fun and exciting board game to play for a fun date night!

13. Go Thrifting or Antiquing

If you enjoy finding treasures at a steal, then this is the perfect date idea for you! Get out and see what treasures and unique items you can find by visiting local thrift stores, antique shops, or a flea market

14. Have a Bonfire

If you have somewhere to make bonfire, do it! Grab a warm drink, cozy blanket, chair, and sit by and enjoy the bonfire together. 

15. Roast Marshmallows and Make Smores

While having your bonfire, make smores! I have so much fun roasting marshmallows and making smores. If you don’t have any area to make a fire outside, you can make them in the house, too!

16. Watch a Sunset

Fall always has the most beautiful scenery. It also has the most beautiful sunsets! Find a place to spend the evening watching a sunset. Take some snacks, warm drinks, and warm blankets. 

17. Find a Nice Place and Do Some Stargazing

​Stargazing is a very romantic fall date idea. Sometimes, you may even get lucky, and there be a meteor shower! Don’t forget a blanket to lay on and cover up with!

18. Go Camping

Do you enjoy being outdoors, having a campfire, and sleeping under the stars? Going camping is the perfect way to spend a fall evening! It’s very peaceful, relaxing, and fun. It can be a great way to learn more about your partner, things they like, and their strengths in the outdoors. 

19. Have a Picnic on a Nice Afternoon

A beautiful fall afternoon is a great opportunity to have a picnic! Pack all your favorite foods, drinks, and blanket. Head over to the local park, your backyard, or another nice spot for a picnic. 

20. Do a Fun Fall Puzzle

Have you ever spent time doing puzzles? They can be fun, relaxing, and challenging! It’s a great opportunity to help each other, talk, and enjoy quality time together.

21. Go to a Chili Cook-Off

Chili cook-offs are a huge thing where I live! It’s so much fun (and so yummy) to try different types of chili. Put on your eating pants and head to a chili cook-off this fall!

22. Go to a Halloween Party and Dress Up

If you love to dress up for Halloween, then a Halloween party is a perfect date idea! Dressing up together can be a blast. Check out these ideas for couple costumes!

23. Do a Hayride

I have always enjoyed hay rides since I was a child. They are so fun! I love the cool breeze and enjoying the company of my better half. 

24. Go to the Park and Enjoy the Nice Weather

Going for a walk in a nearby park, having a picnic, or even riding bikes are all fun date ideas for an afternoon or evening at the park. I’m always down for enjoying nice fall weather! 

25. Take a Nap Together

Who doesn’t love a good nap? When my husband and I were dating, we always looked forward to our Sunday afternoon naps. Eight years later, and we love them even more now!

26. Go For a Hike

Going for hikes is something my husband and I did alot of when we were dating. We would pack a picnic, throw on our hiking shoes, and hit the trails! It’s a great way to get outside and spend some time together. It’s the best season to take in all the beautiful colors!

27. Paint Pumpkins

Painting Pumpkins can be as fun as carving them! Pick a fun theme and paint pumpkins for an extra fun fall evening.

28. Go To A Haunted House

Do you love to be spooked? I’ve always been the one who is reluctant to visit haunted houses, but every time I go, it’s always a blast! Visiting a local haunted house is the perfect fall date idea for you and your partner!

30. Decorate the House Together

I love decorating my house for different holidays. Fall puts me in the mood to transform my whole house! Get out the fall decorations and get to work! Have your significant other help you and male an evening of it.

Listen to your favorite jams while enjoying the evening, peacefulness, and joy of riding the backroads!

Everyone loves fresh baked cookies! Grab your favorite cookies and get to baking. You could try decorating them, too, if you want to have some crafty, fun date night.

What are some of your favorite recipes? Some of my favorites come from my family! I enjoy making them and getting my husband to help.

38. Rent a Cabin for the Weekend

If there is somewhere close by to rent a cabin for the weekend, this is an excellent romantic weekend get-a-way idea!

39. Take Fall Photos

Make memories that you can remember forever. Early fall makes a great time for fall foliage and changing of the seasons!

40. Go to the Fair

If there are any county fairs in your area, you should go! Going to the fair is one of my favorite things to do in the fall. It is one of the best date ideas! Enjoy the food, fun rides, art, animals and other acitivities at the fair. We always have a blast!

Then, you can use it as decor for the season.

42. Go to a Football Game

In the south, football season is the best time of year. If you enjoy college football, go to a game and have a blast!

43. Make Caramel Apples

I love caramel apples and think it would be a very fun date night to make these together. Get to the grocery store, buy the ingredients you need, and have some fun!

44. Create Your Fall Bucket List

​Make a fall bucket list of all the things you want to do together for the fall season. 

45. Tell Ghost Stories

Are you a good story teller? Give your significant other a spook by telling ghost stories! This would be fun to do by a campfire one evening.

Have a good time and go for a bike ride. The park or around your neighborhood would be great for this little adventure.

A brewery is a great place to hang out and talk. It’s also fun to try new flavors. Many brewerys will do seasonal beverage flavors. Try something new this season!

Are you a pumpkin spice latte kind of person? Or is hot chocolate more your thing? Either way, making your favorite beverages at home together is a great way to enjoy the chilly weather. 

50. Make Your Favorite Chili

My favorite season is soup and chili season! Chili can be fixed in so many different ways. Both of you could make your favorite chili and try each other’s. 

51. Go Horseback Riding

I think this is one of the more creative fall date ideas. Horseback riding is a fun adventure!

A small town not far from where I live does ghost tours in different buildings and cemetaries around the town. It’s a great date idea for people who love ghosts and haunted towns!
